Born and raised in San Francisco's Presidio Heights, Christina Spaulding understands what it means to live in this city! From a very early age the city's diverse cultures, weather and points of views have shaped her sense of style.
After graduating with an Architecture degree from UC Berkeley, Christina pursued a career in architecture and interior design focusing on high-end residential real estate in Manhattan followed by a move to San Francisco to design commercial property and space planning for Banana Republic and Williams-Sonoma. While a career in architecture provided a creative outlet it was the love of fashion that marked her next chapter. Terrified at the idea of leaving her career in architecture to take on the challenge of the cut-throat retail clothing business, she recalled the quote "The greatest failure is the failure to try".
Joining her friend and clothing retailer and mentor Romi Mahjaran and learned the retail clothing business from the ground up. With encouragement from Romi, her family and friends, Luna Boutique was born in her old Presidio Heights neighborhood. With tall ceilings and warm lilac wall, the vibe she has set out to create is what she calls "industrial femininity" mixing raw steel fixtures, salvaged casework and organic wood tables designed by Christina herself. The store came with an 800SF backyard garden, which she re-landscaped and where friends and customers can relax, and trunk shows, non-profit events and creative shopping experiences happen regularly! Christina is now doing what she does best: shopping for her friends, herself and San Francisco women!
Luna Boutique's aim is to carry stylish sweaters and scarves year round, fun yet classic cocktail attire, and comfortable, sophisticated clothes that all have a detail in a stitch or a fold to make the pieces unique. Luna will always be a boutique setting focusing on small, niche designers that aren't found everywhere in San Francisco mixed with a few bigger brands to try and get the right mix of individual style that San Franciscians love with a bit of familiarity they can return to time and again. Customers will never feel like they are dressing out a department store. Named after her rescue dog, who can be found napping in the backyard on sunny days, or giving a friendly bark to greet customers as they walk through the doors! Christina and Luna have created a space that reflects their passion for architectural and interior design and love of the laid back California lifestyle.
